Haiku

Green leaves falling down
So graceful dancing on wind
change red and hits ground

Hail lands on my porch
the sounds create smooth music
and it melts away

The wind breeze is strong
it carries oceans along
for the ride, high tide!

Volcanoes erupt
spit out liquid flames, magma
Volcanoes explode

Earth is powerful
Its bold, stable, and rocky
Ultimate defense

Fire shoots from hole
casting darkness in the sky
when cooled its harmless

Sand, tiny and hard
It wants to be a pebble
when combined its made

Drifting in the sky
It is so weightless and free
Turns grey and makes rain

The tiger is wild
Its claws and fangs, razor sharp
Eye of the tiger

Smashed under pressure
Green blades of death, short wild grass
growing in a field.

Good Habits

" Good habits help improve our physical, emotional, and/or financial health.
Select one of your good haits and write an essay to make that habit a part of
their lives."

A good habit that I have is reading books when I am bored instead of watching
television. I have read many books this month like, Hidden Talents, True
Talents, Buried Talents, I Am Legend, Night, House of the Scorpion, and Zombie
Butts from Uranus. The most interesting book that I read this month is called
Metamorphosis, which is about a man who transformed into a beetle and can no
longer support his needy family. The key to understanding this book is knowing
why the main character, Gregor, feels guilty.

In the book, Metamorphosis, Gregor feels guilty because he can no longer
financially support his family due to his metamorphosis into a giant, beetle-like
insect. Before Gregor's metamorphosis, he was a salesman who used almost all
of his money to support his mother, father, sister, and himself, who all lived in the
same house. Gregor is accustomed to providing his family with the money he
earns as a salesman and his family has a nice life because of it. Everyone
depends on him to make money because they are either too old, too young, or
too sick to work. Gregor feels that since he can't work anymore, he and his
family would have to move out of their home and it would be all his fault.

One of the events that caused Gregor's guilt was when his office manager
came by their house to see why Gregor wasn't at work and his family had to
dissuade the manager from firing Gregor. He felt guilty because he could be at
work and his family wouldn't have to go through so much trouble if he hadn't
transformed into an insect. Gregor also felt guilty when he prevented his sister
and mother from removing his picture frame that was on the wall of his room by
sticking his stomache to the glass of the frame. By doing that, he caused his
mother to faint from his appearance. Gregor bcame even more guilty because
he caused his family alot of stress.

Before Gregor's metamorphosis into a giant beetle, he gets along well with his
family. Since his transformation, most of his family seemed to be disgusted and
somewhat afraid of Gregor, even though he was still the same person they once
knew. Gregor's father is always injuring him in some way like he is upset with
Gregor. He caused one of Gregor's legs to go limp and also embedded an apple
in his back. Gregor's sister is disgusted at Gregor's appearance, but is very
close with Gregor and helps him alot while he is in that state. Gregor's mother
can't stand the sight of him but still attempts to see Gregor even though the rest
of the family doesn't want her to. Gregor's metamorphosis has greatly affected
his family which is why Gregor feels guilty.

Reading interesting books like this one will greatly improve your emotional
health. It wll do so by relieving stress so that you will not worry about all of your
problems. It will also improve your financial health because you can just read
books and educate yourself rather than watching horrible television shows like
Jersey Shore, which will save you lots of money on electricity bills, and maybe
even cable bills. Reading these kinds of books can encourage you to go outside
and excersize if you read an inspirational book about weight loss or something of
that nature. Reading books in my spare time is a big part of my life and it should
be a big part of yours too.

Too much TV

Many poeple believe that television violence has a negative effect on society
because it promotes violence. I agree with this because after watching a violent
movie, I react in one of four different ways depending on the movie I watched. If
I watch a kung-fu movie, I start doing marial arts. When I watch a shooting
movie, I try to shoot like the peoplein the movie. Whenever I watch an action
movie , I re-act the movie. If I watch a spy movie, I act like a spy. I know alot of
other people that do this as well and it could have a negative impact on society.

I was watching Fist of Legend with my cousin. When the movie ended, we
were fighting each other while using martial arts, pretending that we knew what
we were doing. We were kicking things, Karate chopping things, punching
things, and elbowing things. We started doing this to each other and we ended
up fighting for real because we kept hitting each other harder and harder. When
we finall calmed down we noticed that we had broken the glass table and the
vase that was on it. Because of the violent movie we watched we broke some of
the things in the house.

When I was at my friend's house we watched a movie called Wanted. My
friend's little brother went into hiis room and shortly after he came back weilding
a plastic Nerf gun. He kept trying to curve the bullet like the actors did in the
movie. On his fifth attempt at curving the fake bullet the plastic Nerf gun slipped
out of his hand and went crashing into the window, cracking it. The little boy got
a spanking and he never tried curving the bullet again.

One day my brother and I were watching a movie called The Expendables.
Near the end of the movie, we had seen so much action that we started
mimicking the movie scenes. We made so much noise that the next door
neighbor made a complaint about how loud we were. When our parents found
out we had to do an extra month worth of chores in a week and we were
grounded. The Expendables was the best movie I ever saw but it cost me alot.

I remember when I was a little kid and I watched The Bourne Identity for the
first time. I wewnt around acting like a spy because at the time I felt it was cool.
I lurked around corners, hid things from people, eavesdrop on peoples'
conversations and made some toy guns. I even started atealing things from
people. I never got in trouble because I make an excellent spy but looking back
I'm glad that I didn't develop a habit.

Whenever I watch a violent movie start mimicking the actions of the movie. If
it's an action movie I act the scenes out. When I watch a kung-fu movieI do
kung-fu. Watching a shooter movie I try to do the impossible tricks they did on
the movie. Spy movies made me act mischieviously and rude. If people did this
every time they saw a violent movie then people could get hurt or die. That is
why I think that television violence can have a negative impact on society.

Recycling

Recycling is one of the best things a person can do to help the planet.
Recycling paper saves the trees from destruction. If cans are recycled, they can
reduce the need for raw materials. Plastic bottles reduce landfills when recycled.
When glass is recycled, it saves energy. People should recycle because it
greatly helps the planet.

A metric ton of recycled paper saves almost 17 trees from destruction. It also
reduces the amount of water used by 50% and uses almost 40% less energy.
750,000 cubic meters of space in landfills would be saved a year if all cardboard
and paper in a house were recycled. 512 homes would have enough electricity
to be powered for a year if we recycled paper for a year. Recycling paper is a
very easy thing to do and it helps everyone.

Recycled cans are often melted down to create steel. Since you can melt cans
into steel, it lessens the need for mining for iron. Recyling cans reduces the
need for raw materials and keeps the Earth's soil rich. It also lessens the
amount of pollution in the air. The impact of waste on landfills are also reduced.

When a ton of plastic bottles is recycled, 7.4 cubic meters of space in landfills is
reduced. When 562,000 plastic containers were recycled last year, it removed
19,000 tons of plastic based items from landfills. Plastic items like the ones that
surround cans sometimes get dumped into the ocean. Not only does it pollute
the water, it also can suffocate any animal who gets close to it. Last year, there
were enough plastic bottles to stretch around the Earth almost 19 times.

Unrecycled glass creates pollution in the air and it remains in a landfill forever
because it does not biodegrade. If you recycled one glass, it saves enough
energy to power a 100 watt light bulb for almost an hour. Recycling glass
protects the environment because it will not be thrown into an area that has
animals. When a glass bottle is thrown in one of those areas, it can cause
serious damage to that animal by cutting it if it walks on it. Recycling glass
creates a healthy environment for everyone.

Recycling is a big factor in helping our planet. Recycling glass reduces animal
risks, saves energy, and creates a safe environment. Recycling plastic reduces
a significant amount of space in landfills, reduces water pollution, and saves the
lives of hundreds of animals. Recycled cans create steel, lessens the need for
raw materials, and reduces the amount of pollution in the air. Recycled paper
saves trees from destruction , saves energy, and lessens the need for water. If
we recycle at least one of these things a day, we can greatly improve the status
of our planet as well as save money and energy.

Public Buses

"Some people are actively involved in promoting and supporting a cause,
such as the release of an international political prisoner or protecting the
environment. Is there a cause you actively support. Write an essay
convincing readers to support that cause."

I'm proposing a new amendment to the United States Constitution. The new amendment
should allow people to get on public buses for free. If public buses were free, it would
lower the overall consumption of gas and oil which would save money. It would also
save trees from being destroyed in order to make tickets. Public restrooms and public
waterfountains are free, so why aren't public buses?

People spend alot of money each year to pay for gas and oil. Some people spend more
money on gas than on food. Because of all the money spent on gas, more cars are
polluting the air. There's also more traffick because of all of the cars. Making public
buses free would lessen the amount of air pollution that is in the sky and it would aloow
people to save money by taking the bus instead of driving their car.

Thousands of trees are being destroyed each year to make bus tickets and bus passes.
Our once beautiful green Earth is being destroyed and before long, all of the trees will be
gone. Onee day our children will live in a world where they have to read about trees in
history books. I cannot imagine a world without trees, can you? We can help save the
trees and let our children live in a world where they can go outside and see trees all
around them, but in order to do that we have to make public buses free.

More and more cars are polluting the air because of all of the gas we spend on using
them. Even more money is spent on buying the gas that is used for the cars that are
polluting the air. Thousands of trees are being destroyed to make bus related items. It
will not be long until there are no trees left on this planet. Making a new amendment that
makes public buses free will lessen the money spent on gas, it will cause less pollution in
the air, and it will reduce the number of trees that are being wiped out. Support this cause
and help the American economy.

Cloning

"Since the cloning of the sheep Dolly, there has been much debate over whether or not humans should be cloned. Many people feel this is a violation of the natural order of things and that all research in the area of human cloning should be banned. Others feel that this is a natural progression of science and human evolution and that research in the area of human cloning should be a priority. How do you feel about this issue?"

I think that people should be allowed to research cloning humans but there are
stilll somee pros and cons to it. Human cloning is a form of asexual
reproduction, a clone would have the exact same genetic structure of an existing
person. A clone is a new category of existence altogether. Human cloning can
enable people to have children if they can't produce sperm or egg cells, cloning
would also allow lesbians to have children without the use of donor sperm cells.
On the other hand reproductive cloning will make humans seem as a
manufacturing product and it would destroy the sense of uniqueness in human
beings. I think cloning will greatly benefit many people in many ways.

Cloning allows people to have children if they can't be helped by other fertility
methods. If someone is born with fertility problemsand they are not capable of
reproducing, cloning would allow that person to have a child. Cloning also lets
lesbians to have children without the use of donor sperm that comes from a man
they do not know, and gay men will be able to have children without donor egg
cells. Reproductive cloning can give parents who have lost a child in the birthing
process redress. If one of the parents has aids or cancer they will not be able to
reproduce without giving their child their disease, cloning would allow the other
parent that is free from aids or cancer to use their cells to make a child.

Reproductive cloning would make people seem as a manufacturing product
versus someone that is born. Cloning would destroy the uniqueness of a person
and can lead to segregation among clons and people who are not clones.
Cloning is very unsafe, nearly all mammalian clones have resulted in death. The
deaths of clones are usually stillbirths, misscarriages, and early sickness.
Reproductive cloning puts the clones and ordinary humans in physical and
psychological danger.

I think cloning would benefit alot of people in multiple ways. Cloning would
allow people with a lethal heart condition to transplant an exact copy of their
heart that doesnt have the illness into that person. A family that has lost a child
in their younger years could have a clone of that child to fill the gap that the
death of the previous child left. Human cloning will eventually lead to cures for
such diseases as aids and cancer. Human cloning is the next step toward a
better understanding of human cells.

Reproductive cloning is the production of a human child that has the exact
same genetic structure as its human donor. Reproductive cloning allows people
with fertility problems to have children. Cloning also allows scientists to
understand the human genome more clearly. Reproductive cloning is also very
dangerous and could cause the deaths of thousands of people. I think we
should clone humans because it will benefit everyone with a sickness and
possibly lead to a world without disease.

Favorite Movie

"What is your all-time favorite movie and why? Write an essay persuading readers to watch this film."

My favorite movie of all time would have to be James Cameron's Avatar. You
should watch this movie because it contains all of the aspects of the greatest
movie ever. The director is considered to be one of the best directors of all time.
The CGI graphics look amazingly realistic. The actors are very talented even
though some are not well known. The most important thing about this movie is
the storyline, which is the best i have ever seen. All of these things combined
gives you the best movie of all time, which is James Cameron's Avatar.

James Cameron is the director of the movie Avatar. He is considered to be in
the same league of directing as Steven Spielberg, who is the most famous movie
director of all time. James Cameron's previous movie, Titanic, has made the
most money a movie has ever made because of inflation. Avatar has made
more money than any movie other than Titanic, this gives Cameron alot of
crediblity as a director and has been the most successful director.

CGI graphics are very important to most movies that involve action or
adventerous scenes, and Avatar is full of them. Avatar has better CGI graphics
than any movie I have ever seen. These graphics are only 2D, but they are so
good that they look 3D. This movie's CGI graphics make plants and animals
come to life. Everything in this movie is very colorful and vivid, it is breath-
takingly realistic.

The main actors in this movie are Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana. Sam
Worthington has been in movies like Terminator Salvation, and Clash of the
Titans. Zoe Saldana's latest movies are Takers and Losers. Although Zoe
Saldana is a pretty well known actress, Sam Worthington is not a well known
actor. In each of his movies, he tries to erase his former self and literally
become the character he is potraying, much like the late Heath Ledger who was
known for doing the same thing.

Some movies have good actors, a good director, good graphics, and a high
budget, but sometimes the storyline is so hoorrible that it makes everything else
about the movie look bad to the point where you want to discontinue watching it.
This movie's storyline is the best I have ever seen. It is a kind of forbbiden love
story with action thrown in. James Cameron's Avatar, was critiqued as one of
the greatest storyline ever.

James Cameron's Avatar is, in my opinion, the greatest movie of all time. It has
a great director, the actors are great, the graphics are the best I have ever seen,
and the storyline is impeccable. Overall, everyone would love this movie and this
is why you should watch it.
